Some Questions

Storms continue to brew in the Northeast as Etrain and I seem to have gone in slight hibernation... We're currently working on some fun projects that will be going up on his page. It will be worth the wait :)

All of that being said, I wanted to pose a few questions to all of you:

What will John Lewis choice to race? And how fast will he run in these races? (Don't forget relays!)

How many teams will follow Pennsbury in breaking 8 minutes in the 4x800 this season? And how fast could they go at states? Will they double anyone, if so who and in what event(s)?

Saint Joe's Prep just dropped a 10:29 in the DMR... 10:...29... wow. John Daly apparently split a 4:17. That's unreal. Will this continue? Could they break 10:20? This team seems to be legit, and I'm excited about it.

Any questions for me? I'll be writing responses over the next few days.

  1. With a time like that, Daly would have to be considered one of the top favorites in the state for the open mile wouldn't he? Do you think he goes for the double or tries to stay fresh and take the gold for the Dmed?

  2. It depends on how Daly is able to double. Some guys double very well and that usually comes from XC strength. I think Daly would probably run around 4:20 for the Mile and come back in 4:25ish. James Zingarini his junior year did not have the strength yet to double too well and he went 4:26 (a PR) and then 3:18. 3:18 isn't a bad double, but the next year he was able to run 4:20/4:20.

I would recommend that Saint Joes Prep keeps everyone fresh, because it is going to be a quick DMR race this season. We rarely see this many quick DMR's by the half way point and there is a lot of speculation behind teams potentials. The only few questions I have left are what North Allegheny could do (but I see them going for the 3k), Easton, who could run a quick team as well, but that's expecting a lot, and finally DT West has a lot of potential with two runners under 4:30 already.

  3. Lewis should go after the 800, it's his best event and he's a natural at that distance. Ritz should just go after the mile and maybe take down the record Russell couldn't get (albeit missed by just 1 hundredth a second). - JEB

    1. I really don't think John Lewis is going to give up the opprotunity to defend his 400 title

  4. lewis in 400 running around 48ish. I think SJP runs around low 10:20ish. I think Daly may have topped out, but the rest can drop about 9 secs. I think DTW can put together an excellent DMR but not sure what their runners will be doing.

  5. I think John Daly's going to focus on the British Open. He's won it once and with some luck he can pull it off again. Side note: given his history of alcoholism it's remarkable that he is running this fast.

    1. That British Open was almost 20 years ago, 50 lbs ago, 4 wives, countless cigarettes and bottles and who knows how many trashed hotel rooms. He's better off in high school running, it's more wholesome and cleaner living.

    2. This really is a remarkable comeback story. To clean his life up and switch sports to become one of the fastest runners in PA, I'm shocked Disney hasn't purchased the movie rights.
