Jarrett Felix

Hey guys, my teammate and friend, Jarrett Felix, and my blogging companion also known as Etrain11 just finished his last XC race ever yesterday. He's an incredible guy who works so hard and is great to have around. He just wrote a blog post about his journey and I highly recommend it for a good read. http://www.etrain11.blogspot.com/2013/11/goodbye-xc.html?m=1

I could say more about Jarrett/Etrain, but I'll let him do the talking.

    1. I first off just want to say thank you for everything Jarrett and Forrest. Not for just fostering discussion on PA running but also reminding us to "stay classy" and enjoy the sport as etrain mentioned. Now to start some track talk...

      1. We wont get to see western PA as early as eastern PA since their meets start later but in the few meets they do have look out for some guys other than NA and Fox Chapel...

-In the 800, Dylan Wilhoite is a top returner in the 800 and I think he's gonna make some noise. He's got multiple sub 2 marks (including a 1:55) and I think he contends for a top medal at states this year. Another guy who also has a 1:55 to his name is James Smith of Upper St. Clair. Look out for those two to go at it.

-The mile should basically be the Martin brothers, a couple of guys from the NA crew and Patrick Miller and the Kennedy brothers from Kiski (although we'll see what Brent's status is later). Probably some other guys like Delany of Freedom will step up.

      - The 3k is essentially that same group above. Maybe some guy comes out go surprise but nothing much different from the mile. George Kelly of Baldwin could be a sleeper.

-As for the relays, we could see NA put together a really nice DMR but I'm not sure how that would work out with the 3k. Same could be said with Fox Chapel. Mnt. Leb could have a couple guys decent enough to put together a 4x8 or DMR but it would need to be their main focus all year to get the state time.

      2. Looking into the middle of the state, it's hard to say what could be going on. Does Brehm do indoors? Don't think I saw him at all last year. I'm basically just spit balling the D3 and D6 names.

-Cather: Look at his results last year and you'll noticed he qualified for every single distance (except maybe a DMR. Not sure about that one). He's a threat at any distance.

-On the topic of Cather, also look for Chris Golembski (spelling?) to stick his neck out there. State College, like previous years could put together a really nasty 4x8 and be, what I think, are possible 4x8 gold medal contenders. This team could basically go in any direction.

      - I dont know much about Altoona besides Stroh. They have put together some really solid relays in the past so maybe we'll see one this year. Look for Stroh to test out his Mile/3k ability.

      - Red Land could be oustanding in either relay. Aaron Laur could be a solid anchor for a DMR. This is all potentially. They need to put the pieces together, but it could happen.

      - Don't remember Patrick Reily and Deluca a lot last year but of course watch for them in the 3k. LD is really tricky. All depends on how Groh is recovering. Nissley in the 3k. Not much else I can say on that. Maybe we see Levi Upham?

      3. Eastern PA is too big to discuss. Basically every District 1 stud you can think of.

    2. Who is Delany of Freedom?

    3. My bad. I meant. Brian Delaney of Manheim Township. Forrest had made that mistake at one point of the year and since then I always thought he was on Freedom. Sorry about that.

    4. Why mention him in the Western PA picks?

  2. RUDE!

Jarrett and Forrest have given so much of themselves to promote our sport and some self centered runners only want to hear about and see their name in next seasons predictions.

Thanks you, Etrain, for reminding us that the sport often times brings the greatest rewards to the runners in the mid to back of the pack and not just those very few superstars who are featured on blogs and milesplit.

  3. That wasn't directed at Jarrett or Forrest, that was just a comment in general. But yes, thank you so much for everything Jarrett AND Forrest. You give all PA runners an opportunity to make their names heard, which is an awesome feeling.

    1. Forrest has other work like school. He doesnt get enough credit for doing this, he somehow balances school, running, and blogging

    2. Exactly. The amount of work you get/rigor of work increases like crazy in college (compared to AP/honors in high school), especially math and science wise. I also believe he has a stat exam sometime this week, so he's probably studying for that.
