Meets Cancelled/DVGTCA Meet #1 - Blazing 800s!

On the boys side, sadly the predictions of poor weather caused Lehigh and Dickinson to Cancelled their meets before the day even started. I'm not sure what it's like out at Dickinson, but it's fine in my area. Usually they wait until the morning to cancel the meets, but they did it last night, which does bother me a bit, since so many guys were looking to run fast times off their fitness from XC. Now what do they do? Delay their break by another week to run that Mile or 3000 after already extending their XC season? This is a choice some may have to make.

DVGTCA Meet #1
The girls however did get to race yesterday, and I'm pretty happy to start my first coverage of season for them this weekend! It will be a learning process for me, but I'm hoping to figure it all out eventually. Hopefully this brings some friendly new faces to the blog on the girls side. As for the guys who really do not like the girls stuff, don't comment about it. That is all. You can clearly see from the titles which meets I am covering and for the most part boys and girls will be separate posts.
So I don’t know too much about the 600 for girls or 1000 for them either, but this season will hopefully help me out a bit with figuring it all out. For now this conversion chart seems pretty fair  for 600m to 800m and 1000m to 800m http://www.therunzone.com/index.php?topic=1522.0

This being said Crosby Spiess from GV’s 1:41.49 looks to be ~2:23 meaning she is close to the Q.
As for the 800, Terri Turner from SCHA lit up the track in a 2:17.85 effort. She’s got a PR of 2:14.99, and could be a threat for medal contention this indoor season. Behind her for second was Kaelyn Keineke of CRNorth who also ran a state qualifying time of 2:19.40. Liz McGroarty of Garnet Valley and Kelsey Brady of CRSouth battled behind them both just grabbing the Q running 2:23.74 and 2:23.75 respectively. Not too far behind them was Kwapinski of CB South and Chiodo-Ortiz of Wissahickon both running very low 2:24’s. Great to see such fast 800’s this early in the year.

In the 3k Elizabeth Morris and Jerica Bauer pushed themselves to the 3k state Q with Morris coming out on top in the final meters running 10:39.31 for the win. Bauer was 10:39.63.

Strath Haven easily wins the 4x8 in 9:39.5, while Downingtown East grabbed second and a state Q in 9:50.8. Haverford’s squad ran 9:58.8 missing the Q by just.02 seconds!

On another note, I am officially done finals by the way so race stories will begin to come out tomorrow.

This will also be the page I will be updating during the FL finals races.

http://www.footlockercc.com/2013/webcast.shtml is the Live webcast that FL does for the meet.

Best of luck to Barrett, Schwartz, Rome, and Wilson today! (Girls Start - 12:15, Boys Start - 1:00)

    2. Congrats to Tessa. NXN was the tougher race this year. I don't think she would have finished any higher than 5-6 if she ran there.
