Well the results are finally out for this meet, so here’s a quick little write up for it before I get rolling into a long weekend meet discussion.
Alexander Balla (16:38) ran fairly solid all year as a
junior and he’s opened up his season fairly well at this meet running away from
a decent field that included Christian Kardish who he beat by 15 seconds. As
surprised as I am that Kardish was 3rd in this race and how well
Balla ran, the real story here is sophomore Daniel Kyvelos from Parkland who
ran 16:51 for 2nd beating out Kardish. He wasn’t on my radar as a
freshman as he only ran 5:03 for 1600. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s
burst out or these times are just not that good and Kardish has fallen out of
the top 50. This course is fairly tough as nobody broke 17 here last year.
Team wise twin Valley ran with a very spread of 30 seconds
1-5 for the win beating out HGP by 17 points. These guys will need to continue
to move up time wise if they want to compete for a spot to get out of D3, but I
like the pieces they’ve got.
Keep a lookout for lots more posts coming in the next two hours!
