This weekend is fairly empty as far as meets go since
Briarwood was moved to next weekend, which is a shame since that and the PIAA
Foundation meet are now on the same weekend. I’m interested to see what O’Hara
does then. But enough about 9/21, let’s take a look at 9/14.
Harry
Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational
Not
huge competition here, but I do really like who we get to see race, starting
with Carlisle’s Zach Brehm who hasn’t hit the trails at an invite yet. He’ll be
competing with Brady Wilt (Biglerville) and William Cather out front. The
Cather/Brehm battle is one we’ll be seeing quite a bit this season, which I’m
excited about. This meet we’ll get to see just how good State College is as
they’ll be going up against some of the top AA teams in Scranton Prep and
Tunkhannock. Also look for Cumberland Valley as they lost a lot of seniors last
year and we’ll get to see how they have reloaded. Hempfield is also a team to
look out for that could definitely make it out of district 3. Another
individual to look out for is Punxsutawney Junior Bo Dinger (A)
24th
Bulldog Cross Country Invitational
Large
School vs Small School: Sadly this invite divides teams into large and small
school’s that go off at different times.
Small School: Henderson’s women’s team is racing, but their
men’s team is not which is really disappointing, since it would be an O’Hara
vs. WCH battle almost dual meet style. O’Hara should dominant this race as they
did last season. Penn Charter should be able to take second, although it’s been
rumored that Ben Szuhaj (#22) is injured.
Large School: This race is stacked with really solid D1
schools that will be going at it all season, especially at districts as many of
them are state team hopefuls. We’ve got WCE confidently coming off of a win at
the Abington Invitational. Right behind them is DTW, NP, Wissahickon, and DTE.
In terms of front runners we’ll get to see the Marcelis brothers who continue
to mix it up, Cummings (#35), Diestelow (#33), Billy Caldwell (#43), Kyle
Francis (#38), Joey Logue (#46), and last but not least Jake Brophy (#12).
Cummings and Caldwell seem to be in sick shape right now so I’m excited to see
them go at it with Brophy out front. This should be a really great race to
watch.
34th
Annual Centaur Invitational
Fairly
small meet, but I think the Twin Valley vs. William Tennent will be a very good
match up. I always forget that TV is a D3 team not D1, they do have a shot at
making out of their district. Out front we should see HGP’s Christian Kardish
(#20) running away with the top spot. His team may also challenge TV and WT for
the victory.
Boardman
Spartan Invitational
This
meet out in Ohio will be headlined by North Allegheny who won last year, but
scored 97 pts, this year I think they could go under 50, since neither Seel nor
Love raced in this meet. Watch their spread, because last season it wasn’t
great at this meet, as it is a quite a tough course. We’ll also see Grove City
so I’ll have my eye on Aaron Benka (#31) to see if he bounces back.
That's all for now Folks!

No NP boys at Bulldog, but you do have Malvern Prep in Small School race (Hoey and McDevitt).
ReplyDeleteMount Lebanon is also at Boardmann.
Mount Lebanon is going to Slippery Rock today
DeleteCummings beats brophy runs 15:45
ReplyDeleteHe peaks in mid September.
DeleteKevin James wins in 15:12; Cummings runs 15:31 while sick and in heavy training. Don't talk about people you don't know.
DeleteBiestelow fell at the start and was in dead last place after he got trampled by the field. He ran his way back up to 10th. If doesn't go down, East would have probably had 2 in the top 5. It wouldn't have mattered, Ohara was unbeatable today.
Deletewce 5th man- Ore didnt run in the league meet, hes out hurt.
ReplyDeleteActually he's out visiting his brother who just gratuated from the Citadel so nice try...
DeleteIs that a good thing?
