PA Grads 9/14

Not sure how often I'll be doing or if I'll be able to get results from all the meets across the country, but he's just a few things I found while looking around! If anyone sees other PA alumni and would like to post results that'd be great!

Harry Spiked Shoe Invitational

D1 Race
Wade Endress: 4th, 26:31
Chris Campbell: 9th, 26:50
Chris Pastore, 17th, 27:32
Alex Archer 38th, 29:02
Endress seems to be doing well as he moves up distance to the 8k. Pastore ran a really nice race making it onto Pittsburgh's top 5.

D3 Race (Included Penn State guys who will be red-shirting next season)
Austin Pondel: 3rd, 26:28
Connor Quinn: 5th, 26:35
Curt Jewett, 18th, 27:27
Austin Stecklair, 21st, 27:44
Jordan Crawford, 57th, 28:52
Jon Colwell, 68th, 29:50
Pondel and Quinn look awesome! That's 5:05 and 5:07 pace for 5 miles, that's impressive. They'll be really helpful to Penn States future as a distance program.

Furman XC Classic -http://www.ptgrouponline.com/Live/2013/XC/Furman1/
Reece Ayers 26th- 24:52
Vinny Todaro 30th - 25:01
Nate McClafferty 34th - 25:04
I'm really impressed with Todaro, running with guys two years older than him, especially just 8 seconds behind XC stud Ayers.

Dartmouth XC Invitational-- http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/250896-Cross-Country-Season-on-Flotrack-2013/article/22219-RESULTS-Dartmouth-Cross-Country-Invitational-2013-DAgostino-and-Chelanga
Joe Kush 9th - 24:25
Juris Silenieks 12th - 24:38
Mac(John) Emery 48th - 26:39
Seems as though two of the North Hill trio are doing some really great work out in Syracuse. That program just throws all their eggs at the wall and see what they get, and these two guys have survived and are racing really well. Emery has re-occuring Mono and wasn't sure if he would be able to race again so as his old teammate I'm glad to see him out their competing, especially since he's only done 1 workout in 4 months. Not sure where Willig was since Brown was at the meet, hope he's doing well.

UMass XC Invite - 6.2k (no idea why such an odd distance)
James Zingarini 21st - 19:55 (5:10 pace)
Jeff Seelaus 33rd - 20:15 (5:15 pace)
My high school coach always said Zingarini was a 5k guy and looks as though moving up in distance is going well for him so far. My childhood friend Seelaus is also running solid for Amherst which is nice to see.

US Naval Academy Invitational
 Austin Gregor 7th - 24:47 (4:59 pace)
Zach Hebda 16th - 25:06 (5:02 pace)
Both of these guys are running fantastic in college. Gregor was a 4:20 1600 guy in high school who has moved up in distance, but hasn't ran anything crazy impressive on the track. He's Georgetown's #4 guy and they're ranked #20 in the nation right now! I'd love to see some PA guys running at nationals and if he can keep a varsity spot chances he'll be there. Hebda's time is no slouch either!

Temple Friends Men's XC Invitational -- 6k
Vince Perozze 6th - 18:53
Ian Barnhill 8th - 18:55
Francis Ferruzzi 12th - 19:06
Brendan Shearn 14th - 19:06
Logan Mohn - 16th - 19:09
Tom O'Kane - 21st - 19:13
Tim Flanagan - 27th - 19:22
Lyle Wistar - 28th - 19:25
Jack (John) Huemmler 31st - 19:31
Dan Savage 37th - 19:34
Tom Seykora 51st - 20:06
Alex Izewski 53rd - 20:10
Will Kellar 57th - 20:19
Chris Berry 59th - 20:20
Own Glatts - 65th - 20:46
 Jack Mcgee 67th - 20:58

Tons of PA guys in this race, Barnhill, Ferruzzi, and Shearn are all looking great for young guys! Nice to see so many PA successes at the college level. Watch for LaSalle this season, they just beat 'Nova.

Big 10 XC Preview - 8k
Alex Moran - 35th 26:26

Not sure if Moran fell, but he went out in 9:54 (2 miles) and finished averaging 5:20 pace. Kid may have a lot more in him or he's just racing really gutsy.
That's All for Now Folks!

  2. Pondel and Quinn can really turn around PSU distance program. It's not in a bad place, but just adding more depth to their distance squad with so many milers. Pondel is destined to be a great collegiate runner, and Quinn also, with people to train with.
