PCL Championships/Team Title Question

The O’Hara squad dominated the open 800m this weekend with Nick Smart winning in a very solid 1:58.02 followed by Belfatto in 1:58.75, and then James in 2:00.54. It must have been a pretty even race once again for these guys showing how strong all of them are. They’ll have a real race on their hands at the state meet against State College. Joe Sullivan also went under the state standard placing 4th in 2:00.58. I think he’ll be able to medal in the open 800m; a faster pace will benefit him well.

Brendan Bilotta continues to look strong outkicking both James and Belfatto with a PA #3 time of 4:21.28. James was 4:21.75, Belfatto was 4:22.16, and Smart was 4:27.58. With the 800m so stacked O’Hara will probably look to medal in other events by spreading guys out. I think James goes Mile with Belfatto and Smart 800m with all of them doubling back for the 4x8. Bilotta will look to double Mile/DMR Mile and is clearly in fantastic shape. Beating out Kevin James is not done easily. Bilotta should easily go under 4:20 at states and grab a high medal.

He also won the 3k quite easily over O’Hara’s other varsity guys just outkicking Rob Morro to win in a time of 9:12.99, Morro was 9:14.49. Ryan James placed 4th in 9:25 which is quite impressive for the freshman who is PA #2 for fr’s behind Seth Slavin who dropped a 9:23 this past weekend.

I am just beginning to look into the team title possibilities and he's what I've got so far:

Pennsbury: Snorweah: (55 – 6th, LJ – 8th, 200-1st, 400 -1st), Alec Sauer (800m – 7th), Klah (HH – 4th (55), 4x2 – 3rd, 4x4 – 2nd, 4x8 – 7th – 34 points

Cheltenham: Bethrea (LJ – 2nd), 4x2 – 1st, 4x4 – 1st, Brissett (55m – 1st), Lewis (400m – 2nd) – 44 points

Malvern Prep: Pancoast (HJ – 7th), Hoey (Mile – 2nd), DMR (2nd) – 18 points

West Chester Henderson: Russell (Mile -1st), DMR (1st) - 20 Points

Coatesville: Davis (HJ – 5th), Williams (HH – 2nd (55), 4x2 – 6th, Cook (55 – 8th), Burton (55H – 5th) – 20 points

State College: Williams (TJ – 4th), 4x2 – 11th, 4x4 – 5th, Cather (800m- 3rd), Adams (800m – 8th), 4x8 – 1st, Post (400m – 8th) – 28 Points

Right now Cheltenham just looks too good. Lewis' 400m time was from way early in the season and Brissett is just an animal in the short sprints. They're also so deep, having two squads break 1:32 this season at the same time is incredible and that was over a month ago. They've also got a great jumper in Bethrea. Once again, a sprint corp team seems to be the squad to beat.

Even if Henderson put guys in the Mile and 3k, they cannot pick up enough points to take down such a team.

  1. keep in mind that if snorweah is running 55, 200, 400 and long jumping he won't be on the 4x2 and 4x4 relay teams, max of 4 events

  3. This is kind of going off topic, but it was brought up in the last post and I'd like to say something on it. People need to stop personally attacking these runners. You don't know these runners and you honestly need to grow up. If you're one of the top guys in the State, you need to have confidence in yourself or else you're not going to achieve what they have. You should always have confidence in your training and in yourself. This blog is going downhill because of people anonymously degrading others. More than anything, keep people's families out of it. That's disrespectful in the highest degree. Have some class and keep the talk about track. One day Forrest is going to get fed up with it and just stop posting. Etrain's blog did great things and this one could too, but if Forrest has to keep playing the babysitter and worrying about people with immature comments 24/7 he's going to get tired of it. It started out great and I hope it can still be great. A lot of work goes into it. So please, let's just keep it classy and about track.

  4. Henderson could get to 40, maybe 45. It's worth a shot.
