Of the 33 runners who have run under 16:05 on the current Hershey course, only 4 have done so at the Foundation meet, 3 of those 4 being this past weekend.
Anyways this was just a little informational post, I thought you guys may be interested to see how the times have played out over the years on the Parkview course.

It's not a surprise there are more top performances at states then Foundation since all the top runner are there for the state meet but only in the last 3 or 4 years did Foundation even start getting a small portion of the top teams and runners.
ReplyDeleteOf the 33 sub 16:05 on your list only 4 ran Foundation and States in the same year and those 4 all improved significantly from Foundation to States. Quinn-37 seconds, Harriman-20, Shearn-23 and Pitone-51. More puzzling is why were the times at Foundation last year so superior to what the same guys went on to run at States. It’s hard to believe an entire NA squad got worse after Foundation or choked at states, or that all those top guys at Foundation got slower as the year went on. It goes against logic as well as history from the 4 runners above. Weather and course conditions didn't cause it. Anybody have any decent theories on why Foundation in September was faster than states last year?
FYI in 2007 there was no poop out hill which is why Dennin doesn't have the course record at lik 15:30s
Delete2006-2007 was simply the parkview course, no poop out hill though. 2006 had one of the quickest races ever though, with Jason Weller beating out Paul Springer 15:04 to 15:06
DeleteThe reason that States is slower than Foundation is because the stink from that crap factory is stronger in November and gags all the runners over a critical 200 yards stretch late in the race, greatly reducing oxygen intake thus significantly slowing the pace.
DeletePersonally, having been to both states and foundation, I found the stink at foundation this year to be worse than previous years at states
