District One results are in! Check them out at:

Here's some quick analysis on teams, that's all I have time for right now. I hope to do something more in depth later, but it's homecoming weekend in Clemson, so it might take a few days. Also times were slow across the board today, so keep that in mind.

Let's start with the teams:

1. Conestoga 152
They got the win everyone was expecting. Marston in 2nd, Killian Nelson at 14, PJ Murray at 21, that's a decent 1-2-3. Cruickshank and Cooper at 16:32 and 16:52 hurt them a little bit though, it was great they got the win, but they by no means dominated, just something to watch for heading to Hershey.

2. WC Henderson 160
Henderson proved me wrong BIG time. I'll own it, I hugely underestimated this team. Alex Knapp in 6 is right where people were predicting but check this out, Barchet, Swart and Smucker in 16, 17, 18 (16:11-16:15). I didn't see that coming at all, those three guys stepped it up and they were the reason Henderson took runner up and was only 8 points back from Conestoga. Berkman ran 5th for them with a 17:04, which isn't the prettiest, but who needs a 5th when you got 4 medalists? Another great performance for them and they've got me believing in them now.

3. CB West 169
A solid all around performance for this team. Rock Fortna grabbed 13, Ian Davies ran well and took 15, Brian Iatarola in 23rd and their next two guys at 16:31 and 16:53. Not a bad performance at all.

4. Council Rock North 208
Brian Arita led the way with a 9th place finish, Sean Griswold didn't run as well as one might've hoped but a decent place of 32. Then their 3-5 packed it in, 16:39, :42 and :46. That kind of pack is always a big plus.

5. Downingtown West 227
They made it through. That ended up being not so easy this year. Sappey ran well to grab 7th as he continues his stud season, but the rest of the team did not run as well as I thought they could. They still ended up with Ryan Barton at 16:32 and 4 guys in the 16:40s though, and packs like that usually have potential to make everyone better if just one of them has a better day.

6. CB East 238
Well if you're at this point in the post and don't know yet, Jake Brophy won in a time of 15:11. So he leads the way for him team by scoring essentially no points. Connor Sands grabbed 22 and then they had 3 and 4 at 16:37 and :47, but their 5th man came in 104th and unlike Henderson, the rest of their guys didn't kill it enough for them to survive that. They still ran well though and only graduate two guys, so look for them next year.

7. Pennsbury 296
Sam Webb was their front guy taking 4th overall. Don't know what happened to Alek Sauer though, I predicted him at 13, other people even put him in their top 10s, but he came in 40. Ari Bortman was their 3rd at 16:37, and then their 4th and 5th at 17:03 and :05 really hurt. I think they just had a bad day though, certainly was not their best meet this year. Now could somebody please explain to me who Aiden/Aidan Sauer is/are? At 6 and 7 for Pennsbury there is freshman Aiden Sauer in 17:41 and then other freshman Aidan Sauer in 18:01. Are they twins?

  1. Wow, I didn't expect Henderson to place higher than 5th either. My bad. Stoga looked good, but beatable. DWest looking like fatigue has set in. CBWest impressed me a lot too. Think the A. Sauer thing must be a typo, right?

Overall, somewhat slower than last years under very similar conditions. I picked Brophy to win but thought he might dip below 15;00 I think Knapp was even slower this year than last and if Hendersons #2 guy was 16:11, that's way off from their #7 guy last year being 15:58-but they got it done. Their cross-town rival must be seething.

  2. Results are about what I expected. I figured Conestoga for the win and WCH would be 3rd. Good for them. Are they still building to peak? Impressed they did well but I think O'Hara, Lasalle, NA and Conestoga are just going to be too much for them next week.
As for the times, they are what they are. Russell set the bar high last year and Henderson obviously wanted to make a statement behind his dominance. But I am impressed with this years bunch too. Conestoga got a reality check today, but will get it together for next week...to come in 2nd!

  3. The race was extremely windy. It was gusting like crazy on the big hill for the top guys, and it was much hotter and humidor than last year. Also, the leaders went out pretty slow. 5:00 for the mile

  4. You sure you were at Lehigh? Weather was fine. Better than last year imo. Wind is always swirling up there but much more on the periphery than the actual course. Not humid. Ground felt great, only very slightly soft. I prefer running in cooler temps but this was good-below 70 and partly cloudy works.

    1. The race went out much more slow and cautious than in the last two years, and let's face it, D1 was much deeper in 2012 and 2013. Weather was a non factor today.

  5. Races were slower across the board. Girls races and boys races. Wind and course conditions were a factor it was still a good running day just not super fast day

  6. Weather was fine, except for the wind. It gusted occasionally up to 20 mph. Footing was good, soft but not to soft. Humidity was good, grass was dry. All in all I'd say it was 10 to 15 seconds slower conditions today than a perfect day.

    1. Exactly, it was a great day to fun, just not a super fast day.

  7. Too much heat on WCH 5th man. Henderson came in second currently, imagine what they can do once he improves
