Weekend Results 10/10-11

As the weekend begins I wanted to make a post that will be updated every few hours on Saturday since I’ll be writing papers and review results as a break from doing actual work.

Mingo Classic
Our first meet this weekend was out west where we got to see Ethan Linderman take home a victory in 16:06 over Nick Wolk of Peters Township. Linderman hasn’t had a big race since Red, White, and Blue, so it’s great to see him before championship season get in another strong 5k result by running away from Wolk and Smith at the end of the meet. Wolk has been steadily improving all season and is right off the top 50 list. Noah Smith of Ringgold has also impressed me this season and he ran 16:18 for 3rd place, which was just 4 seconds behind Wolk. These 3 runners will be important to watch as championship season rolls around. Also of note is the win by Canon Mac who’s 2-3 runners Strosko and Mansfield looked great with finishes in 5th and 6th place respectively with both runners breaking 16:45. This team beat Baldwin who Etrain continues to hold as a possibility of the 3rd place team out of District 7. I think Canon really put themselves in the running for that last states spot as well.

A few questions:
Will 'Stoga be ranked #1 after this weekend?
Can Marston beat Tony Russell's time from Manhattan last season?
Will Marston beat Bryce Millar again?
Who will win Mid-Penn's team and individual races and by how much?
Are there any other invitationals of note? If so, what are they?

That's all for Now Folks

  1. Marston will not beat rusell, miles or kaulbach (sp) times. Perhaps, 12:30ish at best.

    1. It already happened, unless you are referring to Kiwanis (in the spring).

  5. Stoga hasn't race enough. They looked awful! Their times were horrible compared to Henderson's last year.

    1. Stoga is nowhere near as good as Henderson from last year . I still think they are over ranked and think NA and O Hara will take them down at Hershey . Henderson is quickly improving and I believe they will be the team to beat yet again out of D1

    2. Henderson will be lucky to get out of Chestmonts with silver.

    3. Someone made this point in an earlier thread-neither Henderson nor "Stoga is as good as Henderson was last year. It may be an off year talent-wise, meaning a State Championship is wide open.
That being said, I do think O'Hara sneaks in there for the win.

    1. I'll take Sappey but I've got a feeling about Diestelow. Watch for him to make some noise.

  8. If Henderson wins it's only because Dwest and Rustin have injuries.

  9. If Henderson wins it's only because they're better coached and didn't race hard in September!

  10. Did anyone consider that maybe if Henderson wins, it's because they're the better team?

    1. Lyme, mono and football injuries have nothing to do with coaching.

    2. One could argue that football injures do have to deal with coaching because some coaches would not allow kids to do both sports. Seems like if one is doing both, they would be likely to get hurt doing one of the two.

  11. Henderson is the best team right now in d1

    Top 10
    1 NA
    2 OHara
    3 Malvern
    4 York Suburban
    5 Henderson
    6 Mt Lebo
    7 Conestoga
    8 Cumberland Valley
    9 Dtown West
    10 State College Area

  12. District 1 right now:
1 Henderson - squeaks out a win over stoga and makes it 7
2 Conestoga - Barley loses to Henderson
3 CB West - Fortna and tight pack grab third
4 D West - Sappey runs the, the rest of the team is starting to burn out
5 Council Rock North - The fifth spot is anyone's guess, but i'm saying Arita and his team peak at the right time like they always do and just manage to grab the fifth spot

  13. Let's not all jump off the Conestoga bandwagon. They had one bad race. That Eastern States race is crazy. If you get buried at the start, you're in trouble. They're still a very good team. DTW is still a good, young team. They'll be fine at Districts.

It's been said before, but there is no great team in the State this year. O'Hara and NA look best right now, but there are probably 5-7 teams that can win. It's all about who times things right. It should be a fun 3 weeks.

    1. You make a good point but if you get buried at the start at the district 1 race you are in deep trouble as well. We will see.

    2. is the competition at the district 1 race comparable to Eastern States?

    3. Eastern states is a bigger race than the PIAA State AAA Meet.
