Cedar Crest looked strong for the victory over a decent
Hempfield team (54 to 94). They had a much better spread earlier in the season,
but they could be an outside threat for a District 3 spot as Neiswender could
find himself among the top 10 at districts. He ran just two seconds slower than
Shawn Wolfe did last season at this meet.

Well I would like to start off by saying that I was dead
wrong this summer in thinking Tunkhannock would be a really good PA team. I
dropped the ball on that one and I wanted to be the first to admit it. Jack
Tidball however has been running really solid and finished 3rd
overall in the meet. Dominic Deluca had a fantastic performance running 15:59
for a 16 second win over sophomore stud Dominic Hockenbury. Dallas had really
nice performances out of their 2-4 guys who had a 23 second spread between
them. The 5th guy is the killer for them right now, but they should
make it to the state meet and with Deluca out front they’ve got a shot to do
some damage.
Just some additional
comments to my earlier Post:
1. The course that Abert ran in 16:04 is extremely difficult. A teammate of mine has ran it a few times and both he and Kacyon ran faster on the state course than they did at that meet, setting up Abert for around 16 flat if not faster @ states.
2. Here is an interview of him after the race: http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/10/easton_area_high_schools_colin_5.html#incart_river
3. This Freedom team is legit. I think they can be top 7 if not top 5 in the state. They've got a fantastic pack and are moving up big time. I really like them right now.
4. Reilly gets a HUGE win at the YAIAA championships. Just 4 seconds shy of a strong course record. The two guys in front of him were: Jon Grey (CR), went on to finish 8th in one of PA's strongest years (2005) and Chuck Lockwood who ran 16:04 @ States and finished 4th. I think Reilly will be right around that time at the state meet. Plus he beat Gebhart by 16 seconds who is no slouch.
5. I think Quigley of Freedom will be back up with their top 3 guys at the district meet and if he is, they'll be loaded.

Forrest,
ReplyDeleteGot interested in your comment that CRN improves their times at districts more than most teams (in this case, WCE). Looked at last year's times before league meets and compared to district times. Threw out the high and low (WCE #7 improved a staggering 68 seconds at districts). The results were both teams improved 23 seconds in their PRs!
Not saying that WCE is better then CRN, just running last year's numbers. (I think that CRN, WCE, and William Tennant will be 3/4/5 at districts, but maybe not in that order)
